Olivia Loccisano is a filmmaker and screenwriter who works within magical realism, horror, and dark fantasy. Her narratives focus on women and girls in the margins of society, exploring how they use their own imagination and rituals to navigate an often unwelcoming world.
Her stop-motion short film POCKET PRINCESS (2024) won Best Animated Short Film at GenreBlast, the largest genre film festival in the Washington, D.C. region. The film played at festivals including Fantaspoa, Calgary Underground and Wench Film Festival, while screening at the Krupa Art Foundation (Wrocław) in collaboration with the Oscar® Qualifying film festival, Animator. Her debut short, FIRST BLOOD (2023), premiered at Fantasia and Chicago International Film Festival among others. It received critical acclaim for its portrayal of menstruation and vampirism. The film was developed from her script SIMONE (2022) which won Best Short Screenplay at the Renegade Film Festival.
As a screenwriter, Loccisano is the co-writer of DEVOUR, a feature film in development directed by Erica Orofino, produced by Wilding Pictures. She has also earned recognition for her short scripts, including BODY AND BLOOD (2022), which was named to Coverfly’s ‘Red List’, where it remains one of the platform’s highest-ranked screenplays of all time.
As a story editor, Olivia collaborates with screenwriters to refine their screenplays by shaping narrative arcs, deepening character development, and elevating drafts through focused revisions and feedback.
Loccisano’s work has received support from the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA), Ontario Arts Council (OAC), Toronto Arts Council (TAC), and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).
